We are seeking a Linux System Administrator - Asterisk specialist to join our team and take responsibility for numerous business critical systems and networks. The Daktela network currently consists of 100+ Linux servers in multiple locations with GigE and FastE network connectivity. Our systems integrate multiple countries and provide the backbone for a global distribution of SaaS Hosted and dedicated VoIP PBX systems. This job requires an accomplished, experienced candidate who has 3+ years experience managing Linux systems and networks of our size and complexity. The position demands a high level of accountability and technical competency.

Daktela utilizes open-source technologies to do things typically accomplished with big-iron enterprise solutions. We’re using asterisk, xen, linux ha, apache, mysql, zabbix (just to name a few) to help meet our enterprise needs. Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement new VoIP projects built on top of Asterisk PBX
  • Perform voice and data network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose problems on Asterisk VoIP based applications
  • Involved in R&D; aid design and architecture planning of future VoIP platform and software development cycle
  • Building and maintaining core network infrastructure, Auditing existing VoIP systems and networks and making recommendations, Automating and scripting tasks, Backup
  • Maintain and administer corporate VoIP networks of Daktela SLA customers
  • This job comes with ocasional 24×7x365 on-call responsibility to be shared with the rest of the technical team

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Understanding of VOIP telephony with hands-on experience in supporting VoIP / SIP and the related protocols and standards
  • Experience with building and performance tunning of database applications (MySQL, MSQL, PostgreSQL etc)
  • Experience with programming scripting languages and techniques including PHP and shell scripting
  • Significant experience with Linux/UNIX administration and optimization of high performance server-type applications
  • Understanding of Internet Service Provider technologies (Linux/CentOS, Apache, LDAP, DNS(BIND), SMTP, FTP, NTP)
  • Networking skills (TCP/IP, VLANs, Qos, IPtables/Firewalls, debuging TCPDUMP)
  • Must be able to communicate effectively
  • English language required
